Fun and easy FALL crafts for all ages

As the leaves change color and the air turns crisp, it's the perfect time to get creative with some fun and easy fall crafts. Whether you're looking for activities to do with kids, or just want to add a touch of autumn to your home decor, these simple crafts are perfect for all ages. Let's dive into some delightful fall projects that you can enjoy with family and friends.

Leaf Rubbing Art

Suggested ages: 3 and up.

This craft is perfect for young children as it helps develop fine motor skills and allows them to explore different textures and colors. It's also a fun and relaxing activity for older kids and adults sitting around the table with a piping mug of hot cider.

Materials Needed:

  • Freshly fallen leaves
  • White paper
  • Crayons

Instructions:

  1. Collect a variety of leaves from your yard or a nearby park.
  2. Place a leaf under a sheet of white paper.
  3. Using the side of a crayon, gently rub over the paper to reveal the leaf's shape and veins.
  4. Experiment with different colors and leaf shapes to create a beautiful collage.

Pinecone Bird Feeders

Suggested ages: 5 and up.

This craft is great for kids who are a bit older and can handle spreading peanut butter and rolling the pinecone in birdseed. It's a wonderful way to teach children about nature and the importance of feeding birds during the fall and winter months. As an added bonus, the children will love to see the different wildlife attracted to the peanut butter and birdseeds (birds, squirrels, etc)

Materials Needed:

  • Pinecones
  • Peanut butter
  • Birdseed
  • String

Instructions:

  1. Tie a piece of string to the top of a pinecone.
  2. Spread peanut butter all over the pinecone, making sure to get it into the crevices.
  3. Roll the peanut butter-covered pinecone in birdseed until it's fully coated.
  4. Hang the pinecone bird feeder from a tree branch and watch the birds enjoy their treat.

Pumpkin Painting

Suggested ages: 4 and up.

Pumpkin painting is a versatile craft that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. Younger kids can create simple designs, while older kids and adults can get more creative with intricate patterns and themes. This activity is great for those with texture issues who might not want to touch the "guts" of the pumpkin involved with a traditional jack-o-lantern carving session.

Materials Needed:

  • Small pumpkins
  • Acrylic paint
  • Paintbrushes
  • Newspaper or a plastic tablecloth

Instructions:

  1. Lay down newspaper or a plastic tablecloth to protect your work surface.
  2. Choose your favorite colors and paint designs on the pumpkins. You can create faces, patterns, or even abstract art.
  3. Let the paint dry completely before displaying your painted pumpkins around your home.

Autumn Leaf Garland

Suggested ages: 6 and up.

This craft involves a bit more coordination and patience, making it suitable for older children and adults. It's a lovely way to bring beauty of fall leaves indoors and can be a fun group activity. This craft lends itself really well to preparing your older children for stringing popcorn garland for the Christmas tree in a few months!

Materials Needed:

  • Colorful fall leaves
  • String or twine
  • Clothespins or small clips

Instructions:

  1. Collect a variety of colorful fall leaves.
  2. Cut a piece of string or twine to your desired length.
  3. Use clothespins or small clips to attach the leaves to the string.
  4. Hang the garland on a mantel, window, or wall to add a touch of autumn to your decor.
In closing, no matter what you choose to do this fall, remember the most important thing is spending time with your loved ones and admiring what you have made. You will cherish those memories for years to come.

Kenzie's day at school

Kenzie got off of the bus screaming, "Mom it snowed!" It was so cute. Then when I got into her backpack, I found her daily sheet with this on it... Kenzie had wrote her name (not perfect but she tried) and a note from the teacher above it saying "INDEPENDENT WRITING-- ONLY VERBAL PROMPTS!" I am so excited for her! We are definately getting somewhere. Then under the teacher comments part, I find... "SHE CAME IN TELLING ME IT WAS SNOWING-- SUPER EXCITED!" I too saw this when she got home! Construction Zone Newsletter Week 2 Dear Family, This week Kenzie will learn about solving problems. Using the topic "Build with Me," we will read stories about building things and working together to solve problems. You can help your child learn more by talking with him/her about things she/he is doing at school and the new letters and words that he/she is learning. Here are some ways that you can work with your child at home. Think and Talk: What did y...

And WINTER is here!

I look out the window to see.... A BLANKET OF SNOW! It is covering my driveway, walkway, yard.... and we are expecting more this week! I think it is safe to say that winter has finally decided to come! Don't get me wrong, snow is pretty, but I don't like it because that means I have to drive in dangerous conditions! I would much rather be driving in tropical storm force winds and rain (I have done this! When all the hurricanes were going through Florida a couple of years ago!). Now on to other things... Saturday: I had a really busy day. I was at work and didn't think it would ever end. Admissions and falls and sending people to the hospital... stabalizing others and stuff that goes on in the health care centers all the time. Sunday: Zach forgot to add me back into the schedule, so I got off at 2pm. Rode home with Maxx since he lives in Jeffersonville and Ryan and the girls were going to be at his house anyway. When we got there we watched a little of the game an...
