Today's Sermon Notes

The Law of Priority

Matthew 6:33

But seek first his Kingdom and his righteousness, and all things will be given to you as well.

The word first means:
-first in priority
-order of importance

What are the priorities when it comes to families?

1. The LORD is always first
**Spending time with the Lord is vital**
-it keeps you in the spirit
-it changes your heart
-it gives you wisdom
-it keeps you in humility
-it keeps your speech and thinking in line
-it helps you follow the word of God

2. The family is second
-you are married to your spouse and not to your parents or other family members
-you are married to your spouse and not to your grandchildren
-even though the Lord is #1 in your life you are still married to your spouse

3. work is third

2 Thessalonians 3:10-15

For even when we were with you, we gave this rule: "The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat." We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies. Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat. And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good. Take special note of anyone who does not obey our instruction in this letter. Do not associate with them, in order that they may feel ashamed. Yet do not regard them as an enemy, but warn them as you would a fellow believer.

-personal responibility and not entitlement
-we must all understand that marriage is not for everyone.

1 Corinthians 7: 7-8

I wish that all of you were as I am. But each of you has your own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that. Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I do.

-Paul was single and it was a gift
-some singles have the desire to get married

2 things about this:

1. Remain Pure
2. Wait
-you do not look. you wait.
-no dating. just waiting.
"wait" is an action word wich speaks of serving

How can you tell who the right person is?
-it is a calling from the Lord
"call" an invitation that must be responded to

the definition of marriage is a MAN and a WOMAN coming to be one.
-give all relationships the test of time
-once married you are married.

There is a difference between joy and happiness

Psalm 144:15

Blessed is the people of whom this is true;
blessed is the people whose God is the Lord.

Psalm 148:5

Let them praise the name of the LORD, for at his command they were created

-happiness is based on circumstances, situations, feelings, pleasures, and events
-joy is a fruit of the spirit that grows as the believer grows and is not based on events, pleasures, or situations.

3 statements on this:

1. no one can make you happy except JESUS CHRIST
2. things will not bring you happiness
3. do not use the enemies language

This was today's sermon at my church and because I believe that this is a very important message to families, I decided I would start sharing the notes from our pastor on sundays. This is the first part of the series he has just started. If you ever want to tune in, please feel free to go to www.ccwc.org to watch our services live on Sunday mornings or Thursday evenings.

Kenzie's day at school

Kenzie got off of the bus screaming, "Mom it snowed!" It was so cute. Then when I got into her backpack, I found her daily sheet with this on it... Kenzie had wrote her name (not perfect but she tried) and a note from the teacher above it saying "INDEPENDENT WRITING-- ONLY VERBAL PROMPTS!" I am so excited for her! We are definately getting somewhere. Then under the teacher comments part, I find... "SHE CAME IN TELLING ME IT WAS SNOWING-- SUPER EXCITED!" I too saw this when she got home! Construction Zone Newsletter Week 2 Dear Family, This week Kenzie will learn about solving problems. Using the topic "Build with Me," we will read stories about building things and working together to solve problems. You can help your child learn more by talking with him/her about things she/he is doing at school and the new letters and words that he/she is learning. Here are some ways that you can work with your child at home. Think and Talk: What did y...

What Your City Walk Means You are thoughtful and contemplative. You enjoy spending time alone with your thoughts. You are generally confident and friendly with strangers. You are well mannered and sociable. Money is very important to you. You like to have lots of nice things... and you don't care if you're being greedy. You are curious about ideas. If you had the means, you'd like to explore the whole world. The City Walk Personality Test

And WINTER is here!

I look out the window to see.... A BLANKET OF SNOW! It is covering my driveway, walkway, yard.... and we are expecting more this week! I think it is safe to say that winter has finally decided to come! Don't get me wrong, snow is pretty, but I don't like it because that means I have to drive in dangerous conditions! I would much rather be driving in tropical storm force winds and rain (I have done this! When all the hurricanes were going through Florida a couple of years ago!). Now on to other things... Saturday: I had a really busy day. I was at work and didn't think it would ever end. Admissions and falls and sending people to the hospital... stabalizing others and stuff that goes on in the health care centers all the time. Sunday: Zach forgot to add me back into the schedule, so I got off at 2pm. Rode home with Maxx since he lives in Jeffersonville and Ryan and the girls were going to be at his house anyway. When we got there we watched a little of the game an...
